'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the dramatic final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess quickly slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This capped an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for having a go from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and focus just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including both legs encounters against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

It has been quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I realized I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
